As part of ARCHiOx’s collaboration with the Bodleian Libraries led by John Barrett, a team from Factum Foundation travelled to Oxford in October 2024 to record the ceiling of The Divinity School using photogrammetry and LiDAR. The high-resolution 3D model will be part of the Bodleian Libraries’ conservation records and will enable the creation of facsimiles of several details from the carved stone ceiling.
On March 15th 2025, the Weston Library at the University of Oxford celebrated their 10th anniversary. The results of the high-resolution recording of The Divinity School were on display, with several full-size facsimiles of the intricately carved bosses available for the visitors to view up close. These masterpieces of perpendicular gothic stone carving are on public view, but the complexity of their iconography and meaning go unnoticed by the thousands of visitors who see the Divinity School as the infirmary in the Harry Potter films.
