New geophysical research has found “tantalizing evidence” of possible hidden chambers beyond Tutankhamun’s tomb (KV62), reviving Nicholas Reeves’s 2015 hypothesis that the tomb may conceal the burial place of Queen Nefertiti.
The research combines ground-penetrating radar, microgravity measurements and earlier electrical-resistivity data, pointing to possible corridors and rooms. Reeves’ research also builds on high-resolution 3D data recorded by the Factum Foundation in 2009. Released online in 2011 for research and education in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities, the data enabled Reeves to identify traces of two sealed doors behind the tomb’s walls, forming the basis of his 2015 paper The Burial of Nefertiti?
